Project – Playhouse
I’ve been doing a few projects around the garden and house when I was requested by the project manager to build a playhouse for our daughter.
So looking about I wood left over from:
1. Dismantling a pergola that has been converted into a outdoor space (project incoming).
2. Dismantling and rebuilding a woodshed.

3. A broken Bed.
4. A climbing wall I had built for my daughters room that project manager decided was no longer a requirement (ok so I had snuck it in when redoing the room).
5. 3/4″ TGV that was given to me for a door that I never got round to using.
6. 1/2″ TGV that was used for the walls of the outdoor space.
The dimensions are approx 1.5mx1x4mx1.8m(2m at highest point). The size was dictated by the wood I had available when I started and was sized to minimise cuts while maximising the amount of parts from each length of wood.
The pergola provided the 4 of 4×4 for the uprights and the 4 of 6x2s which I used for the flooring.
I ran the 4x4s though the wood planer to remove some of the twist.

The woodshed gave me 4 of 3x3s for the outer frame base. I lap jointed these and cut notches in the 4x4s for them to sit in.

The TGV was used for the back and some roofing lathes used to hold the top square while I put the sides on.

The roof and the left and top of the back I had to buy wood (TGV 8 of 3/4″x5″ @4.6m) and 2 of 4×2 @3m and I had to get some more damp course to weatherproof the roof (I had some left from the outdoor space build, but not enough.)
The roof is made from 3/4″ Malaysian ply which came from a king bed that was broken and needed replaced (I’d used it instead of slats).

I used the sides of an old king bed frame to make the doorway smaller to enabled me to clad it.

The cladding here was the 1/2″x5″ that was used for the outdoor space, this was several offcuts that were no longer needed as they had been removed for a window.

Here is the mostly finished article all that is missing in this picture is the hammock that is hanging diagonally between the posts that was made from paracord and an old fitted bed sheet joined with a sheet bend.
